Southhampton, England native Will Ozanne musically resides under the alias of Gang Colours. His sound is an odd one that definitely takes some marinating, but once you let this sensitive sound settle…it’s something worth soaking yourself into.
His first full length LP, The Keychain Collection, was released under the Brownswood label in 2012. In typical Brownswood fashion, he combines organic elements with the likes of electronic manipulation. Gang Colours offers a composition of sorts, leaning heavy on distant grand piano melodies while keeping you on your toes with offset, unanticipated electronic elements. Often compared to James Blake, his lo-fi vocals act as a melancholic undertone to the entire piece.
Give this album the proper rinse(s) it deserves until you feel comfortable with its offerings. This album inherently throws you off and but in that lies the beauty of this composition.
